Trades From Community has been specifically established to provide accredited training while learning on the job, with an end vision of supporting Indigenous trade qualified community members to become their own independent tradespeople and business owners.
My Pathway founded Trades From Community in response to community needs. We have listened when communities have said to us that they need their local people trade qualified so that they can fill jobs and not watch as a workforce is brought in. We recognised that the current systems were not supporting communities.
Our Building Supervisors are qualified Trainers and will work with each project member individually on their individual training requirements. Unlike other organisations, Trades From Community is dedicated solely to providing trade qualifications and on the job learning and not profit margins.
My Pathway has a vision for building stronger communities, and Trades From Community is a big part of this vision of building capacity within communities and keeping jobs in communities.
Trades From Community also provide participants and local community with real employment pathways and on the job accredited training for Apprentices and Trainees.
It will also allow for My Pathway participants to ‘taste test’ the building and construction industry to see if that industry is for them.
Trades From Community in partnership with Rio Tinto will be refurbishing homes in Weipa. This is an exciting beginning for everyone and will see a number of new Apprentices and Trainees included on the project, as they learn, earn and work towards their accreditations.
